A Grade vs Bros, Saturday 1 April 2017

What a great way to start the season, with a gutsy two point win over a massive Manly Bros side, who have been training together for the last 2 months.

It was always going to be a tough ask for our first game, as we only had trained together as a team for 3 sessions but the boys proved how tough they are grinded out a win on the back of some unbelievable goal line defence. Sammy Notton save three certain tries that would have seen Bros come away with the win. Matt Kelly played himself to a standstill and couldn’t possibly have done any more.

Tevita Ryan playing his first game for the Sharkies had a great second half scoring a freakish try running onto a great Mick Radisich grubber with one minute to go and then kicked the goal to win the game right on the bell, not a bad start to the year.

Everyone who took the field put in 100% and this showed in the final score.

Franky McKee has done a great job in such a short time and there is a really good feeling amongst the boys, they really played for each other which is what it takes win premiership.

I think we are in for a good year.

Points

3 – Sammy Norton

2 – Matt Kelly

1 – Tevita Ryan
